Olive Tree on the Road

Meet Olive Tree programmers and designers face-to-face at any of the following conferences this winter!

  • Demo of Original Languages at ETS/SBL: Olive Tree will attend two conferences in November: Evangelical Theological Society in Providence, RI, and Society of Biblical Literature in Boston, MA. Will you be there? If so, stop by the Olive Tree booth and try out our newest resources. We'll be unveiling the first of our original language resources for iPhone, including the Greek New Testament, Greek Septuagint (LXX), and Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (BHS), an edition of the Hebrew Masoretic Text.

  • 2009 Christian Book Expo: You can also meet Olive Tree representatives at the March 2009 Christian Book Expo in Dallas, TX. Sponsored by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association and completely open to the public, this expo is the first event of its kind. This expo will gather publishers, authors, ministries, and booksellers—all for the purpose of reaching the largest audience possible with the life-changing message in books, Bibles, and other Christian resources.

Want to be the first to know about the release of major titles? Want to be the first to buy the new iPhone App? Want to upgrade BibleReader the same day we release the latest version? Olive Tree's Twitter announcements are the best way to know right when the important things are happening. They go out between newsletters, before blog entries—really, whenever anything newsworthy occurs at Olive Tree. (Don't know what Twitter is? Learn more at Twitter.com.)

The Olive Tree Blog is still a great way to keep up with us, and we can discuss our news in a little more detail than Twitter's 140 characters allows. We will continue using the Olive Tree blog the same way we have been using it—to keep you informed about Olive Tree's news in between newsletters. But now, Olive Tree on Twitter will accompany the blog with the most up-to-date postings about what is going on at Olive Tree.

New Access to Collections in Your Personal Library

One of Olive Tree's most convenient features is having access to all your previously purchased titles in your Personal Library. You can always download a new copy—for a new device, if the book has been updated, or in case of any other problems.

Olive Tree Collections used to be visible only as one title, but now the books in a collection are available in your Personal Library as individual titles. If you've previously purchased an Olive Tree Collection, each title incuded in the collection is displayed underneath, and you can download any book individually.

This new access is especially helpful for customers changing to Olive Tree's newest platforms like BlackBerry with Storage Card. You can now download individual titles from your previously purchased collections, without waiting for the whole collection to become available on the new platform. This support is available in beta versions of BibleReader as well, so when you access your Personal Library via your handheld device, you can download available titles from any of your collections.

Thompson Chain Reference

New!   Thompson Chain Reference System

Methodist preacher Frank C. Thompson began 10 years of original biblical research in 1890, taking extensive notes in the margins of his Bible, grouping references by topic, and creating "chains" of topical references that could be followed all the way through the Bible. Since that time, thousands of topics and links have been added. The Thompson Chain Reference System available today has over 100,000 links covering over 8,000 chain topics, allowing you to follow any subject, person, place, or idea from the beginning of your Bible to the end. Added to your mobile device, the Thompson Chain Reference System works with any Bible translation in your electronic library.

This powerful reference collection includes Margin Notes, Topical Index, Archaeological Supplement with photos and maps, Bible Harmonies and Illustrated Studies, Outlines Study Series, and Bible Book Outlines.

NIV Family Pack

New!   NIV Family Pack

Three translations in the "NIV Family", presented by Zondervan. The New International Version (NIV) is one of the most popular translations in contemporary English, balancing word-for-word faithfulness to original Greek and Hebrew texts with "thought-for-thought" sensitivity to context, written in fluent and readable prose.

Today's New International Version (TNIV) is a new translation from top evangelical linguists and scholars. In light of the dramatic changes in the English language since the NIV's 1978 publication, the TNIV uses up-to-date language that communicates the Bible's timeless message clearly to today's generation.

The New International Reader's Version (NIrV) is an NIV-based translation developed to allow early readers access to God's Word. The NIrV is an excellent resource for children, adults who read English as a second language, and any other Christians seeking a simplified Bible translation.

Today's New International Version

New!   Today's New International Version Bible

In the thirty years since the NIV was published, the English language has changed and evolved significantly. Between 1993 and 2003, Merriam-Webster made 100,000 changes and added more than 10,000 words and phrases to its collegiate dictionary.

Today's New International Version (TNIV) is a Bible translation in today's contemporary English from the top evangelical linguists and scholars who also translated the best-selling, highly popular New International Version (NIV). The TNIV strives to use contemporary language that communicates clearly, while remaining uncompromisingly faithful to the Bible's timeless message.

Young, Restless, Reformed

New!   Young, Restless, Reformed

From John Piper’s den, Al Mohler’s office, and Jonathan Edwards’s college, Christianity Today journalist Collin Hansen has launched an investigation of what makes today’s young Calvinists tick. For nearly two years, Hansen visited the chief schools, churches, and conferences of this growing movement. He sought to describe its members and ask its leading pastors and theologians about the causes and implications of the Calvinist resurgence. The resulting book, Young, Restless, Reformed, shows common threads in their diverse testimonies and suggests what tomorrow’s church might look like when these young evangelicals become pastors or professors.

Want to learn more about the "Reformed resurgence" that has captured the passions of today's twenty-something evangelicals?

Things That Cannot Be Shaken

New!   Things That Cannot Be Shaken

The relativistic climate of today's "postmodern" age simply does not encourage Christians to remain tethered to the truth. So how do we find our spiritual moorings? In environments that seek to undermine faith at every turn, how do we solidify our thinking so that our faith will not waver? By holding fast to the “things that cannot be shaken” (Heb. 12:27).

Written in a style that engages contemporary culture and addresses the challenges of a faith-based life in a secular world, Things That Cannot Be Shaken equips Christians to respond biblically, with certainty and confidence to questions and beliefs that can undermine faith. It will also challenge you to set aside those sins that cling so closely and to let what cannot be shaken become the defining characteristic of your walk with Christ.

Hope . . . The Best of Things

New!   Hope . . . The Best of Things

Christians worldwide are familiar with the name of Joni Eareckson Tada, who was left quadriplegic, in a wheelchair, and without the use of her hands after a serious diving accident. Since this life-changing tragedy, Joni has become an internationally recognized spokesperson on accelerating Christian ministry in the disability community. Throughout this journey, she has relied on the heaven-sent hope found only in Christ. In Hope . . . The Best of Things, Joni describes how this hope in Christ transforms and empowers her life daily.

If hope is scarce in your life, this special booklet will draw you—toward a fresh perspective on suffering, true scriptural encouragement, and this beloved author’s hard-won insights about the goodness of God. This concise and readable book powerfully communicates all these truths from someone who has lived them, so that you can live them too, no matter what you’re going through.

SUPPORT TIPS: NEW SOFTWARE FAQs

You've downloaded the beta version of BibleReader for BlackBerry with Storage Card, and you're excited to try out your favorite books in the new program. But the books won't show up in your Library! What now?

Do I have the right files for BlackBerry with Storage Card BibleReader?

The newest BibleReader (4.x) is a completely new program. Books purchased for other platforms like Palm, Windows Mobile, even for BlackBerry 1.x (BlackBerry without Storage Card), won't work in BibleReader 4.x.

We've converted and reformatted each book that we are offering for BibleReader 4.x, so be sure to download a fresh copy. The newest readers won't open older books, so make sure you've updated all your books.

There's no charge to download a new copy of a book that you have already purchased, even if it's for a different device. Just login to your Personal Library, set your device for BlackBerry with Storage Card, and you'll see what books are available for BibleReader 4.x.

To be part of the latest discussion on this new program, be sure to check out the BlackBerry Beta Forum. And thanks to all the Olive Tree users who post in the beta forum! Your feedback helps us develop a better BibleReader.
