Quick Start Guide
1. Overview
The
purpose of this document is to give
an introduction to the user interface and features of the Olive Tree
Bible Reader for the Symbian S60-5 platform.
2. Over
the Air Installation
First
you must allow set your phone to allow installation of all
applications. First To do this, go to your Application
Manager/Installation Settings screen and set “Software
installation” to “All” and “Online certificate check” to
“Off” (see figure 2a). Once this is done, just direct the browser on the phone to www.olivetree.com/m to install the BibleReader on your phone. Click on the "BibleReader Beta" button to begin the download.

Select OK to begin the Download, see (figure 2c) and once the download is complete click OK again to install the application, see (figure 2d).

Once the BibleReader is installed you will see a new shortcut added to the applications list (figure 2e).

3. Navigating
Bible Reader
To run the application select the BibleReader icon
from the Applications screen, illustrated in Figure 2e. You will be
greeted with the BibleReader splash screen on launch (figure 3a). The alpha/beta version of the
software includes an embedded American Standard Version Bible
(ASV) that is automatically copied to the SD card by the
application during the initial startup. Once this process has
completed the main screen of the BibleReader is displayed
(figure 3b).

The navigation of various functions within the BibleReader is accomplished through the use of the Symbian S60-5 menuing system; see figure 3c and 3d for an illustration of the complete top level menus. The most common buttons that will be used with the BibleReader for Symbian S60-5 will be the menu and back keys.

3.1 Navigating
Main Screen
The main BibleReader screen provides access to the currently loaded Bible along
with a button to activate the in-application toolbar
(see. Figure 3.1.a).

3.1 Verse
To
go to the verse chooser, press the menu button and select the Nav Icon. Figure 3.2.a – 3.2.c illustrates the verse chooser screens.
You select the options by clicking on the screen. Upon completing
your selection, the
main screen will display your selected location in the text.

3.3 Library Screen
The
Library screen allows you access to three locations explained in
more detail below: your bookshelf of downloaded books, the online
books store, and your online bookshelf. To navigate to the
library, press the menu button and select the Library icon or or use the
trackball.

3.3.1
Library Bookshelf
The
bookshelf displays Bibles/books that currently are installed on your
SD card. You can scroll through them and select which book you would
like to load into the main screen of the BibleReader. To choose a product touch the corresponding selection on the screen or use the
track ball.
3.3.2
Library Online Book Store
The
online bookstore provides access to books
that can be purchased from the Olive Tree store, or to downloaded
for free.
3.3.3
Library Online Bookshelf
The
Online bookshelf allows you to login to your Olive Tree account and
download books you have purchased. See Figures 3.3.3a and 3.3.b
for a depiction of the logon screen and the account listing. Green checkmarks indicate books that are currently located on your device
already. You can select individual books to download, or download
all books by selecting the “download
all” option.

3.4 Search Screen
The Search screen allows searching the currently loaded bible in the main screen of the BibleReader application. Figure 3.4 illustrates the various options that can be selected for searching.

3.5 Backward
Menu and Button
Touching
the Backward menu item icon will navigate the text back
through to the previously visited location.

3.6 Forward
Menu Item
Touching
the forward menu item icon will navigate the text forward
to a location in the text history.

3.7 Menu
Button
The
Menu Button item allows access to the remaining menu items. Figure
3.7a illustrates the additional menu items.

3.8 Add
Bookmarks Menu Item
Add a bookmark at the current location in the
loaded book via the add bookmarks menu.
Bookmarks can also be added by touching a verse number. Figure 3.11a
illustrates the interface generated after a verse
number touch.
3.9 View
Bookmarks Menu Item
You
can view your bookmarks via the view bookmarks menu. Figure 3.12a shows an example of the
bookmarks screen. Scroll through the list and load the
book to the specified location by double clicking the bookmark.

3.10 History
Menu Item
The
History menu item allows direct access to your navigation history.
Figure 3.8a illustrates an example of a history screen. To
scroll to a particular location use the trackball or the
touch screen and select it.
3.11 Table
of Contents Menu Item
The
table of menu item contents illustrated in figure 3.9a
allows viewing and navigating to locations in the currently loaded
book. To
scroll to a particular location one can use the trackball or
the touch screen and select it.
3.12 Copyright Menu Item
The copyright menu item allows viewing the copyright
for the currently loaded book (figure 3.10a).

3.13 Preferences
The
preferences menu item allows the configuration of fonts, colors,
Strong’s numbers display, and scrolling configuration
options. Figure 3.13a – 3.13e show the selections
available under the options menu.

3.14 About Menu Item
The
about menu item displays information about the version of the
software installed on your device. Figure 3.14a shows an example of
the about screen.

3.15 Exit
Menu Item
The exit menu item
when selected saves all your settings and closes the BibleReader.
