It&#8217;s called <a aria-label=\"A Visual Theology Guide to the Bible (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.olivetree.com\/store\/product.php?productid=48958\" target=\"_blank\">A Visual Theology Guide to the Bible<\/a>. Don&#8217;t be fooled by the similar names, though. They are completely different tools&#8230; except that their digital versions are exclusively available through Olive Tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, let&#8217;s see what all the fuss is about!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-visual-theology-series-overview\">THE VISUAL THEOLOGY SERIES OVERVIEW<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don&#8217;t know anything about the Visual Theology books, you should read <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"this post (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.olivetree.com\/look-inside-visual-theology\/\" target=\"_blank\">this post<\/a> first. We wrote about Challies&#8217; and Byers&#8217; first book, and it was incredibly exciting to offer it in the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-it-all-began\"><strong>How it all began&#8230;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One day, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Byers saw Challies (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/visualtheology.church\/pages\/about-us\" target=\"_blank\">Byers saw Challies<\/a> post an <a href=\"https:\/\/visualtheology.church\/products\/books-of-the-bible\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"infographic online (opens in a new tab)\">infographic online<\/a> and it inspired him to create more graphics to represent theological systems. After a few conversations, the two realized they had the same vision: combining the power of words <em>and<\/em> visuals to communicate truth. The rest is history!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-s-in-the-first-book\"><strong>What&#8217;s in the first book?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.olivetree.com\/store\/product.php?productid=34183\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Their first book (opens in a new tab)\">Their first book<\/a> is organized by a Christocentric view of theology. The sections are titled: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Grow Close to Christ<\/li><li>Understand the Work of Christ<\/li><li>Become Like Christ<\/li><li>Live for Christ<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So, if you&#8217;re looking for a new way to learn systematic theology, this is a fun option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-another-one-a-visual-theology-guide-to-the-bible\"><strong>Another One: A Visual Theology Guide to the Bible<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Challies and Byers were thrilled with the outcome of the first book. It is a well-loved resource\u2014not only teaching Christians about systematic theology, but equipping them to teach others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, they set their sights on creating a visual guide for the Bible. The primary headings for the guide are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Trusting the Bible<\/li><li>Studying the Bible<\/li><li>Seeing the Bible<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These are very general, overarching themes \u2014 especially compared to the specific, Christocentric systematic theology of the first volume. Of course, the subheadings reveal that the content goes deeper and deeper in the guide. So much can be communicated with images. And so much more can be retained when we use images, too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you use graphics to learn, it is much easier to recall information. You can&#8217;t easily copy down verbatim the two paragraphs you read. But you can sketch out a picture of what you just saw rather easily. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.olivetree.com\/store\/product.php?productid=48958\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"A Visual Theology Guide to the Bible (opens in a new tab)\">A Visual Theology Guide to the Bible<\/a> uses this medium in the best way \u2014 to help you learn <em>and<\/em> retain information about God&#8217;s Word. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, you&#8217;ll be able to think about concepts in new ways. Sometimes, seeing something visually laid out gives our minds the opportunity to run with a thought or understand more fully. The only way to zoom in with a print version is to buy a magnifying glass.
