It&#8217;s very easy to do! Strong&#8217;s tagged Bibles are great for learning about the breadth of use of a specific Greek or Hebrew word; a cross reference is useful for finding other verses related to the topic at hand. So let&#8217;s do it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s say you&#8217;re working with a text like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.olivetree.com\/bible\/?query=Matthew+1%3A1&amp;version=NASB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matthew 1:1<\/a>. Firstly, you open your Strong&#8217;s Tagged Bible (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.olivetree.com\/store\/product.php?productid=26454\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">like this NASB<\/a>) and get to reading. But <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.olivetree.com\/6stepsusingcrossreferences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cross references<\/a> get you the rest of the way, taking you back to referenced verses and similar ideas brought up in a different book or language. This way, you can move past a word study and study the Bible <em>conceptually<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-study-conceptually\">Study Conceptually<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To study biblical concepts like &#8220;<em>love<\/em>&#8221; or &#8220;<em>anger<\/em>&#8220;, you need to equip yourself with both a Strong&#8217;s concordance and a cross reference tool. We suggest moving beyond the ones annotated in your Bible, to larger and more complete collections such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.olivetree.com\/store\/product.php?productid=28733\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Olive Tree Cross References: Expanded Set<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.olivetree.com\/bible\/?query=Exodus+34%3A6-7&amp;version=NASB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Exodus 34:6-7<\/a>. It appears that \u05d7\u05b6\u05e1\u05b6\u05d3 (<em>hesed<\/em>) had a general range of meaning surrounding mercy, kindness, lovingkindness, and goodness. Now that we&#8217;ve established the Hebrew usage of lovingkindness (\u05d7\u05b6\u05e1\u05b6\u05d3), let&#8217;s take a look at what the New Testament writers have said on the topic.
