Title: John Phillips Commentary Series - Exploring Genesis
Publisher: Kregel
Author: John Phillips

Description

It is a book of facts, a book of firsts, a book of faith, a book of forecasts, a book of funerals. It has been called "the seedplot of the Bible" because all the vast forests of Scripture start there as seedlings. It is said to give us the beginning of everything except God.

It is the book of Genesis. Genesis is the opening crescendo of Scripture, for God does not begin the book with a timid, tentative note or two. He begins it with the thunder of drums as worlds leap out of nowhere to populate the skies. He begins it with the crash of cymbals as the human race falls into sin. He begins it with the blare of trumpets heralding the inundation of a world.

Approach this book with simple faith, for the facts it sets forth are to be believed, not to be bandied about at the whims of the world. Approach this book with increasing interest, as its heroes march across the page, as nations rise and fall, as the Hebrew people emerge to dominate the Bible to the end.

In Exploring Genesis the course has been mapped with crisp, clear outlines. Author John Phillips has sought to be true to the text. He has tried to bring life again to the people who crowd its pages. He has sought to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.

The John Phillips Commentary Series is designed to provide pastors, Sunday school teachers, and students of the Scripture with doctrinally sound interpretation that emphasizes the practical application of Bible truth. Working from the familiar King James Version, Dr. Phillips not only provides helpful commentary on the text, but also includes detailed outlines and numerous illustrations and quotations. Anyone wanting to explore the meaning of God's Word in greater depth - for personal spiritual growth or as a resource for preaching and teaching - will welcome the guidance and insights of this respected series.
