You can now build your own daily Bible reading schedule that will work with the BibleReader on your PDA. You will first need to go through a manual process of creating a properly formatted XML file. Then, Desktop Assistant will convert that XML file into the PDB file that the BibleReader can use on your handheld Palm or Pocket PC device. Please note that it is recommended that you have a working knowledge of HTML or XML before using this feature.
To build your daily reading file:
| 1. | Create an XML document using a text editor such as Notepad and save the file with the extension .xml. This document must be formatted according to the formatting specifications in the Reference section of this manual. To start a new XML file, it may be easier to let Desktop Assistant create a starter template for you. Just select the number of reading entries that you want per day and click the "Create Starter XML File..." button to generate a template for you. You can then open this file in a text editor such as Notepad to edit the verses. |
| 2. | Complete your XML file by filling in the verse entries for each day. |
| 3. | Browse for your XML file to set it as the Input File. |
| 4. | Browse for the location on your PC where you would like the Output file to be saved. |
| 5. | Click on the "Generate PDB File" button to create the Output file. The Output file will always have the name, DailyBible.pdb in order for it to work with the BibleReader. |
| 6. | Install the new file to your handheld device: |
| • | On a Palm device, copy the DailyBible.pdb file from your computer and paste it into the quick install tool. HotSync the device. |
| • | On a Pocket PC device, open ActiveSync on your desktop computer. Explore to the Bible folder, located under \My Documents\ or \SD Card\My Documents\. Copy the DailyBible.pdb file from your computer and paste it into the Bible folder in ActiveSync. |
