Galatians was the favorite epistle of Luther, so much so he is recorded as stating: "The Epistle to the Galatians is my epistle. To it I am as it were in wedlock. It is my Katherine." This translation of Luther's commentary on Galatians was undertaken with the goal to make it as accessible as possible for English-speakers. The basis of this commentary was derived from lectures which were delivered in 1531, and a German version was published in 1539. This commentary is considered one of the most important to the history of Protestantism.
