Interpretation: Resources for the Use of Scripture in the Church Collection (10 Vols.)

For the Olive Tree Bible App

Title: Interpretation: Resources for the Use of Scripture in the Church Collection (10 Vols.)
Publisher: Westminster John Knox Press
Author: Patrick D Miller

Description

Westminster John Knox Press presents the Interpretation: Resources for Use of Scripture in the Church set. Instead of focusing on individual books of the Bible, these volumes focus on the Bible's most enduring passages and most vital themes, bringing to these topics insight and faithful wisdom. The series provides contexts, overviews, and perspectives that complement the book-by-book approach of a commentary but discern dimensions of the Scripture that the commentary design may not adequately explore. This series will be an excellent resource for all those who teach, preach, and study the Bible.

Current and future volumes will deal with various areas of interpretation, including:

  • Particular texts that have played an important role in the faith and life of the Christian community, such as the Lord's Prayer and the Ten Commandments
  • Difficult topics addressed at many different places in the books of the canon that are of interest and concern to the church
  • The relation between the liturgy of the church and the Scriptures
  • Other ancient literature that provides context to the interpretation of Scripture
  • Interpretation of Scriptures' various literary forms and genres
