Now Featuring Video in the Olive Tree Bible App!

We are now featuring video content in the Olive Tree Bible App! The recent release of this new feature puts more Bible content in your hands inspiring you to read and study the Bible like never before. Just as the addition of our Audio feature transformed how you listen to God’s Word, we believe the addition of video content will have the same effect as you see, hear, and learn more about the truth of God’s Word. Read on to see how we’ve incorporated video capability in our app and to learn about the first content we’ve made available (for free!).

Video Capability

As with any other feature we’ve added to our app, we wanted to add video as a tool to aid your study of Scripture. Our goal is to always keep Scripture front and center in our app. Afterall, we are first and foremost a Bible App. So, the question that drove us was, “How do we add video without distracting from studying the Bible but as a resource that can help with studying the Bible?” The answer was to treat video capability similar to how we treat any other study resource. Let us show you what we mean.  

Video Capability in the Resource Guide

The first approach we took was to integrate video capability as a new category in the Resource Guide. The Resource Guide features sections or categories for content from resources in your Library related to the Bible passage open in the Main Window. Some of these categories include related verses, commentaries, Bibles, people, places, topics, maps, etc. With the addition of this new feature, the Resource Guide will now list videos as a category. So, any time there’s a video in your Library related to the passage open in the Main Window, you’ll see it available in the Resource Guide! These categories are all customizable, so you can disable or enable them to suit your preferences.

Simply tap on the video you want to watch, and it will play in the Resource Guide. For those using this new feature on a mobile device, you can watch in a pop-up or full screen mode for a better viewing experience.

Video Capability in the Main Window

The second approach to adding this capability was to make it accessible in the Main Window. From the Main Window, select the video resource in your Library to view the table of contents. Simply tap on the title you’d like to watch, and it will start playing in the Main Window.

Video Content

The first video content available in the Olive Tree Bible App is created by BibleProject. BibleProject has graciously and generously given us permission to use their videos in our app at no cost to our users. That’s right! All their videos will be made available in our app for free!

What is BibleProject? “BibleProject is a nonprofit, crowdfunded organization that produces 100% free Bible videos, podcasts, articles, classes, and educational Bible resources to help make the biblical story accessible to everyone everywhere. From page one to the final word, we believe the Bible is a unified story that leads to Jesus. This diverse collection of ancient books overflows with wisdom for our modern world. As we let the biblical story speak for itself, we believe the message of Jesus will transform individuals and entire communities.”

So far, we’ve added all their videos in English, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. We’re working on adding the remaining videos in all the other available languages and dialects. We’re hoping to have that done early next year. These videos include introductions and overviews of every Bible book and other topical content related to key biblical themes.

How Do You Add this Feature to Your Account?

We decided to make adding this content to your account simple. Once you download the updated version of the app and open it, you’ll see a new splash screen. Tap on “Redeem Now” and we’ll automatically add BibleProject videos to your Library.

If you don’t want to add this free content right away, you can always add it later. You’ll see the option to add BibleProject videos in the Resource Guide when there’s content related to the passage you have open in the Main Window.

You can also add these videos to your Library through our store, in-app or online. Just click or tap the link below, add the free title to your cart, and proceed through the checkout process!
