You may be thinking that you’ve already missed out on reading through the Bible this year and have now set your sights on the beginning of the next. Not so fast! Did you know that you can start a Bible reading plan any time of the year? Did you also know that Olive Tree has three 90-day plans that take you through portions or the entirety of the Bible in ninety days?

The Olive Tree app has a number of free Bible reading plans. These plans help keep you on track with a daily reading schedule. Also, you can set up reminder notifications and track your progress through the plan.

This post will introduce you to the 90-day plans and walk you through the process of setting up the “Through the Bible in 90 Days” plan. Check this process out in the app.

Selecting Your Plan

Open the app and tap the Daily Reading icon on the top bar. If you don’t have the Olive Tree app, then download it here.

The Daily Reading option will open in a new window showing all the different plans and devotionals available for free within the app.

In the Finish 2022 Strong category, you’ll see the different 90-day plans available. There are three—a plan for the Pentateuch, a plan for the New Testament, and a plan for the whole Bible. Tap “See All” if they don’t populate on your screen.

The “Through the Bible in 90 Days” plan looks like this. This plan features daily readings from the Old Testament, Psalms or Proverbs, and the New Testament. Tap “Start Reading” at the bottom of the page to select this plan.

Translation and Goals

Now that you’ve selected your plan, the app will prompt you to select the translation of your choice from your own library. You can even select to listen to the plan with an Audio Bible purchased from the store (the KJV audio New Testament is available for free).

The app will ask if you’d like to set a goal for the plan. If you select yes, the 90-day plan will automatically preset 90-days from the current day. You can adjust this for a longer or shorter period of time to suit your preferences.

Notifications and Reminders

The final step of this process is to enable notifications and reminders. If you’d like to receive notifications on your phone, then tap “Open Settings” and enable notifications in your phone’s settings. Then simply tap “+ Add Reminder” to set up a reminder.

You can set multiple reminders within the app itself once notifications are turned on. Select the days of the week and the time you would like a reminder. These prompts can help keep you striving toward your goal!

Start Reading

The next step is the best part. Just start reading through the Bible! You’ll be able to track your progress through the daily reading with the green progress bar at the top of the screen. After you complete the first reading from the Old Testament, you’ll be prompted to jump to the next reading. Simply tap “Next” at the bottom of the screen.

After navigating to the next part of the reading, you’ll see a pop-up window containing the portion of Scripture you’ll be reading.

Having completed the daily reading, the progress bar will be completely green, and you’ll be prompted to select “Complete Reading” or “Next Reading.” Select “Complete Reading” and the pop-up window will show “Completed.”

Or select “Next Reading” and get a head start on the next day!
