John wants us to understand that Jesus is the promised Messiah and God’s Son, and through this to receive eternal life.

To achieve this aim, the apostle highlights seven ‘signs’ that display Jesus’ deity, and seven ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus that identify him as the God who revealed himself at the burning bush.

Stan Evers has been in full-time Christian work for over forty years. He served for nine years as a pastor in east London before moving to Potton, Bedfordshire, where he was pastor of the Baptist Church for twenty-five years. Now in retirement he preaches and writes besides editing The Grace Magazine. He retired from his church at Potton, after leading his congregation for exactly 25 years.
