Maclaren's sermons, alongside those of his contemporary Spurgeon, remain highly regarded and continue to impact modern readers. In an age of fluctuating beliefs, Expositions of Holy Scripture provides a steadfast foundation in the enduring hope of the Gospel.
Alexander Maclaren, D.D. (1826-1910) was a Baptist preacher known for his theological insights and oratorical skills. He began his ministerial career in 1845 at age 19, and in 1858 he became the longstanding pastor of Union Chapel in Manchester. As his reputation spread he received invitations to preach abroad, including an 1889 tour of Australia and New Zealand.
